Scott started out six years ago on the end of a paint brush — exterior work, tall ladders, north-side siding that hadn't seen a coat in a decade. It's still the job he'd pick first on a good week in June. Everything else he learned the way trades actually get learned: one job at a time, until drywall, roofing, plumbing, electrical and full remodels were all on the list.

Repairs came first. Property management grew out of them — rental owners around Petoskey who'd called about a leaky faucet or a scuffed wall started asking whether he could keep an eye on the whole place between guests. He could, and scheduled upkeep has been part of F&G ever since. Today the list runs the whole way: remodels, repairs & maintenance, cleaning, yard work & snow removal, and property management — one crew that already knows what an older Northern Michigan house, or a rental turning over guests every weekend, actually needs.

He's got an engineer's head for how things are put together. Most of the time he's worked out how something works — and how he's going to fix it — before the cover is even off. That's the difference between a diagnostic visit and an afternoon of guessing, and it's why one trip usually does it.

Scott was born in the Upper Peninsula and moved below the bridge when he was young, so Northern Michigan winters aren't a learning curve here. He knows what a February ice dam does to a roofline, and what a lake-effect season does to a house that's been sitting empty since October.
